Frequently Asked Questions
Xometry is the world’s leading on-demand manufacturing marketplace. We offer custom and serial parts manufacturing via CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing and injection moulding.
No. We don’t have any CNC machines or 3D printers ourselves, but we do have the largest manufacturing network in Europe with more than 2,000 partners. It means our customers can access the available capacity of over 5000 CNC machines and 3D printers in qualified and audited workshops all over Europe.
Once you place an order, we will find the most optimal partner to manufacture your parts. Optimal partners are workshops with the right capabilities and availability for your project, and they can start on your order immediately. Most of our orders are manufactured by workshops in the European Union.
We provide manufacturing for all industries that require metal and polymer parts. These sectors include automotive, machine building, railway, aerospace, electronics, energy and many more. Contact us if you have any questions about how we can help you with your application.
Xometry Europe’s Instant Quoting Engine is free to use and allows you to get free quotes online. You only have to pay for the part production.
Xometry Europe relies on workshops from across the European Union with a long tradition of contract manufacturing, skilled workers and cutting-edge machines. By tapping into the unused capacity of thousands of manufacturers, we are able to provide quality parts for less.
Unless otherwise specified, we make your manufactured parts available on an EXW (Ottobrunn, Germany) basis. In your enquiry, please provide any shipping preferences/requirements. We are able to provide delivery to the EU, UK, Norway and Switzerland.
We accept payments by credit cards, PayPal, Sofort, bank transfer and others. If you prefer other payment methods, please contact us.
Xometry Europe offers a wide selection of common metals and plastics as well as custom and rare materials. You can find more information in our material section.
We offer various manufacturing processes:
- CNC machining (milling, turning, drilling)
- Sheet metal fabrication (laser, plasma, water jet cutting and bending)
- 3D printing (HP MJF, FDM, SLS, SLA, Carbon DLS, DMLS, Polyjet)
- Injection moulding (injection moulding, overmoulding, insert moulding)
We also offer various finishing options (anodising, hardening, chrome plating and more).
Our Instant Quotation Engine supports all popular CAD files (STEP | STP | SLDPRT | IPT | 3DXML | PRT | SAT). If you don’t have a 3D model, don’t worry. You can submit a PDF or any other file for a manual quote.
No, we don’t provide CAD drafting services. However, our Instant Quoting Engine provides DFM feedback and our engineers may review designs for their manufacturability and offer advice about them.
Yes, we have internal quality control procedures at the sites of our partners and in our logistics hub. If you require quality control reports – please specify the control procedures you need in your enquiry. Typically, the control procedures could be supported by material certificates, conformity certificates, reports of inspections.
Please make sure to specify the quality control procedures before placing the order – introducing them once the production has started is very difficult.
Our Instant Quoting Engine provides quotes with price and delivery time within a few seconds. Requests for manual quotes are usually provided within 24 hours.
Xometry Europe constantly monitors the free machine time of the network members. For every order, we select relevant machine workshops with free capacity right now.
We take your intellectual property very seriously. Every drawing, sketch or picture you upload to our system is kept completely secure. We use state-of-the-art security algorithms. Traffic at our website is secured by the SHA-256 algorithm with RSA encryption.
Once your order is placed, only the provider that actually manufactures your part has access to the part drawing. All CNC workshops in our network are under contract to protect your IP. If you require a special non-disclosure agreement, please send your request to info@localhost
Yes, you can! We do work with individuals, not only with companies. Your order can be paid with a credit card.
We are constrained by the limitations of our cooperation partners only, but we have not faced these limits yet. We can make just about anything up to 1 ton in weight. To see the limitations of different processes, visit our CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing and injection moulding service pages. If you have any questions or concerns you can contact us or submit a manual RFQ at info@localhost
