Role description
We are expanding our IT team and looking for a Data Analyst who can support our efforts in data-driven decisions and business-process optimization across the organization. Our office is located in Shanghai (China). This is a full-time position and includes active feature ownership: we expect the person in this position to control and share data-related knowledge, provide BI-based reports and insights for the management.

Through our platform, companies have the chance to easily obtain quotations and order parts for their production needs. Xometry’s international network of over 6,000 production partners enables it to offer a wide range of processing technologies: CNC processing, sheet metal processing, 3D printing and others. We deliver the final parts after a strict quality assurance process and our customers can always track the status of their requests. Xometry’s customers include BMW, Bosch, Dell Technologies, General Electric and NASA. Recently in 2022 Xometry has started a Chinese office for selling in China.
The platform
Our in-house platform is built on Ruby on Rails stack with PostgreSQL database. We plan to set up a separate DWH, to select the most convenient BI solution for Chinese business and to build a solid set of analytical tools. Currently, we are working under European tech team supervision and starting to form our own team of developers and engineers. Therefore, it is a perfect opportunity to become a part of a new and strong player in the Chinese manufacturing-on-demand market. We are building the uber-like platform for manufacturing, deploying updates almost every working day, so there is a lot of interesting work to be done.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a solid data layer with all necessary data marts and dashboards with key metrics across the organization: Sales, Operations, Finance, Suppliers network management, etc..
- Support Management in strategic and tactical decision-making based on extensive data analysis.
- Educate and encourage teams and management to apply a data-driven approach.
- Maintain high data quality, help developers with data transformations, integrations, ETL, etc.
Successful candidate has
- 3+ years of experience as analyst/data engineer, preferably in on-demand services/platforms.
- Understanding principles of unit economy, user behavior analysis, finding insights and presenting outcomes to the management.
- Understanding the principles of DWH and creation of data pipelines and ETLs.
- Comprehensive knowledge in SQL & Python, solid experience with data pipeline architecture.
- Proven records of developing dashboards aimed to solve real business tasks. Experience with Alicloud, Tencent Cloud, Tableau, Qlik, Chartio, etc.
- Experience in data science and willingness to grow in this direction is a big plus.
- Understanding web development tech stack, programming background is also a plus.
- Team player experienced in cross-functional teams, sufficient English for an international company.
- Ready to work in a startup environment with continuously evolving goals.
Work conditions
- English and Chinese speaking tech team in the Chinese branch of a large international company.
- A developing startup (20 people in China) inside the world market leader (~1000 people in total).
- Full-time position.
